about

Ambiogenesis is 33-minute ambient exploration of the formation of the earth, using the latest astrogeological theories and a lo-fi/hi-fi approach inspired by Boards of Canada, Koji Tano and Master Harker.

1. Hadeon - the earth forms, and is very hot and melty
2. Lonely Rock - the earth cools down a bit and feels lonely
3. Céline - a massive asteroid smashes into the earth and chips off a large chunk which we know as the moon. The earth feels less lonely.
4. Infinitesimal Chances - the chances of all this happening, and then abiogenesis (the spontaneous formation of complex lifeforms) popping up, are about as likely as meeting two old saloon player-pianos floating in an eccentric orbit around Jupiter...
5. Ambiogeneisis - ambient abiogenesis
6. Nuvvuagittuq - the tuneful one! The Nuvvuagittuq Greenstone Belt is a sequence of metamorphosed mafic to ultramafic volcanic and associated sedimentary rocks located on the eastern shore of Hudson Bay, 40 km southeast of Inukjuak, Quebec. These rocks have undergone extensive metamorphism, and represent some of the oldest rocks on earth.
